Right Brain Moment
As I'm working through The Artist's Way
, I've been slowing my thoughts down a little, being a little more aware of my creative spirit. I spent basically all afternoon yesterday shooting and photoshopping pendants to put on The Kitschen
. (Watch out, everyone, for the motherlode pendant update! It should be up next week.) When my husband came home, he asked me about my day, and I was trying to talk about the LOST Podcast I listened to. I had hard time speaking, specifically, I could not find the word "landmark" for the life of me. I could picture things like the eiffel tower, and riding around in a tour bus, but the word just was not there. I couldn't get back into the word-zone of my brain. It's amazing and weird how our minds work!

Illustration Friday: E is for ...
I had some help from my hubsie with this one:
Me: I'm not sure what to do for Illustration Friday this week. The topic is "E is for ..."
Hubs: Well, what's the first thing you think of that starts with an "E"?
We're a good team.
One of the main points in the first chapter of the Artist's Way to become safe being creative. I know that I am my harshest critic,
and believe me, that is one vicious critic. You wouldn't want it in your head, either. So to combat my inner critic, I have created a fun way to work on my personal creative affirmations.Click Here
to download a PDF file that you can print & color.
Now, if you look at it and think, "Gee, that seems rather childish," that's just your Inner Critic trying to be a spoilsport. Tell him/her to shut up and go get your crayons!

Illustration Friday: Sea
I was reading Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain
by Betty Edwards the other day. She was writing about how, as children, we come up for symbols for objects that we assemble into landscapes. I realized (or remembered!) that I really love drawing this way. So here is my little symbolic seascape - aren't jellyfish beautiful?!

Working Through The Artist's Way
I'm starting to work through The Artist's Way
(again) with some of the girls from the Get Crafty
forums. Newcomers are welcome anytime!
Here are some resources that may be helpful:100 Ideas by Keri Smith.
Lots of these would work for fun Artist's Dates.Kat's Paws.
She's running an online group for The Artist's Way right now. They're about a week ahead of me, so it is great motivation!
